The complete collection of the 1980s package holiday sit-com DUTY FREE. Having been made redundant from his draughtsman's job, David Pearce (Keith Barron) and his wife Amy (the glorious Gwen Taylor) are using some of his redundancy money to pay for a foreign holiday together. They are staying at the San Remo Hotel, Marbella on the Costa Del Sol, where they have met Robert Cochran and his beautiful wife Linda. Linda and David are instantly attracted to one another and are attempting to have a holiday romance. There are farcical secret rendez-vous, dodgy disguises and hiding in wardrobes, to avoid their spouses--the brusque Amy and boring, straightlaced Robert. Carlos the Spanish waiter is always around to foul things up. Co-written by RISING DAMP'S Eric Chappell.

While gently mocking the national characteristics of its principals, this Finnish-Hungarian co-production also had the more serious purpose of attacking the 1981 immigration laws that forbade Hungarians who married outside the country from returning home within five years. Pausing for some acerbic asides on generational and town-and-country politics, János Zsombolyai seamlessly segues from comedy into drama as Mari Kiss's marriage of convenience to Tom Wentzel's Finnish bachelor takes a turn for the worse once they realise its impact on his family and her friends. Enlivened by a splendid supporting cast, this is direct, disarming and delightful.
brought back some great moments
if you have seen it first time round its just as good if your seeing it for first time trust me duty free is very very good fun
A good comedy is a good comedy no matter how old. A Classic comedy is a classic comedy no matter how old.
Maybe the mists of time clouded my judgement here, because this is DIRE!
On the positive side, I put it on the player in the bedroom and luckily fell asleep after 2 episodes.
