When i 1st saw this film everyone had heard of Geena Davis and Jeff Goldblum, but cast along side them were 2 unknown actors Damon Wayans and Jim Carrey who knew that 23 years later they would be so successful, especially Carrey.

In this Wayans and Carrey hardly speak at all its there facial expressions and there actions which steal the show, its up to Jeff Goldblum to keep the 2 in order while at the same time fall in love with Davis(at the time of filming i think these 2 were really a couple)

Being a 80' s movie it still has all the chessy momments like guys thinking there Don Johnson in his Miami Vice days or people who can dance believe that they can dance and sing like Prince(he was called Prince in 89)

And at the end ot the day this film is part musical with some really catchy tunes, the theme tune will stick with you for ages.

So 1 of the best films to finish off the decade with and in years to come despite its cheesyness and tack it is a fantastic film destine to become a cult classic

this film is canny, but its the sort of film you can really only watch it once, cause after that you get bored.

its a good film with an interesting storyline but is more of a poor chick flick

  • EARTH GIRLS ARE LAZY

Amusing-enough movie about inter-species mating that, despite the abundance of acting talent, does not really explore the issues it raises. These are: White supremacism; the superficiality & materialism of White culture and the importance of fulfilling and satisfying sex for women.

The rampant individualism on show denies empathetic human relations; hence, the loneliness displayed. The weak characterization never helps answer the question: How does one live better than the characters here? The love that could be here is never present. Visit to a Small Planet or Starman.

  • A trip down 80ies memory lane marred by poor quality transfer

Nor much to add to other reviews re. the content, but do be aware that this is a poor quality DVD, cropped to square TV (4/3) format, from what appears to be a much used tape master which has lost much of its focus, with slight colour bleed, the overall effect being more like watching an old VHS copied on TV rather that a properly remastered DVD - the 80ies are not that far away to excuse such a poor job and the quality of the cast should warrant a better release from the distributors.
