An enjoyable period dramaBy a customer from OXON , 24 Sep 2009
[Highly rated reviewer]Clearly done on a very tight budget and the English weather wasn't on their side, but an otherwise enjoyable and lighthearted film. I'm not sure whether it wants to be a coming of age film or a funny piece of nostalgia but definitely worth a look.

"All Bodywork, Those Rovers, No Performance" !!!By a customer , 16 May 2013'East Of Ipswich' is your typical British comedy-drama..... A very authentic 1950's holiday play and very easy to watch. The comedy is in the detail, not in your face !!!
Top Drawer!By Sockdrawer (1 review) from UK , 05 Feb 2011I was about the same age as the lead character when I first saw this film. It left a lasting impression! It stands up brilliantly today as a wonderful observation of first love and as an insight into 1950s life.
Script, acting, cinematography & score all top drawer. The late Joan Sanderson is particularly memorable. Thanks Michael Palin.
Beautifully observedBy knufsaid (2 reviews) from email@example.com , 26 Oct 2010i actually really enjoyed this realistic film, mainly as I remember going on similar such holidays with my parents, enjoying the same dreadful guest houses, terrible weather and being jealous of other children who seemed to be enjoying themselves much more than me???
Not much happeningBy Xenon (8 reviews) from Bognor Regis , 08 Mar 2010The 50s detail is very well done and has a good cast but not much happens and is rather slow. I thought the poor weather made it more authentic!
TERRIBLE!By Chelby from Dark, dark Essex , 16 Nov 2009Really wanted to see this, thought it would be similar to East is East but sadly, far from it. Very slow - made me cringe it was so bad - perhaps just not my cup of tea. My recommendation ... don't bother!!
