Most helpful review
not bad
By a customer from London , 23 Sep 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
It's strange, I liked and didn't like this movie at the same time. The scene, story, main 2 actors and photography were good, but directing at times was over handled creating the story and actors to become unnatural. Still, worth watching.- Was this review helpful to you?

(12)Amazing..
By a customer from Southpor , 12 Feb 2009Truly amazing and believable story. Very well played by best Russian actors. Every detail is full of reality and truth. Russia in stalinism period - you'll never forget it.- Was this review helpful to you?

Go East
By Peter from Oxford , 14 Apr 2006This film looks good and is acted solidly. The story is compelling and well told. That notwithstanding, it feels like a bit like some worthy Euro-drama. Polished, but ultimately fails to involve the viewer.- Was this review helpful to you?

not quite what I expected...
By Russian viewer from London , 17 Aug 2005The cast was fantastic, the authenticity of the setting was almost there, yet the plot was too eleborate with far too many little deviations, and, frankly, quite tedious.- Was this review helpful to you?

Dismal!
By a customer from Ilkley , 18 Apr 2005Poorly drawn characters and not a very believable story. We just thought this film was dismal from start to finish.- Was this review helpful to you?
