Fonda: 'We smoked real pot on Easy Rider'

Jack Nicholson, Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper smoked real cannabis during a scene for movie classic Easy Rider. Fonda has confessed the trio used "real pot" to capture the moment Nicholson's character tries the drug for the first time. But he refutes longstanding rumours they took LSD on the set of the 1969 movie. Fonda tells Extra, "We did not take LSD, no matter what the rumours say. Hopper got to see son in acting debut before he died

Dennis Hopper got the chance to watch his son Henry in his first acting role before he died last year (May10) after director Gus Van Sant rushed the movie veteran a rough cut. The Easy Rider star was dying of cancer and Van Sant knew the actor didn't have long left, so he handed Hopper a reel featuring Henry's debut in Restless. Easy Rider star Peter Fonda has wed for the third time. The movie star exchanged vows with Margaret Devogelaere in Hawaii on Sunday (19Jun11). Fonda, 71, divorced his second wife, Portia Crockett, earlier this year (11). They were married for 35 years. The actor ended his first marriage to Susan Brewer in 1974. They were wed for 12 years. Hopper dead at 74

Screen legend Dennis Hopper has died at the age of 74. The Easy Rider star revealed his fight with prostate cancer in October (09) after being hospitalised for "severe flu-like symptoms", admitting he was first diagnosed with the disease in 2002. Hopper underwent regular treatment sessions at the University of Southern California, but reports surfaced in early January (10) suggesting he was facing his final days after learning the deadly disease had spread to his bones.
