  • A sad way for cinema to end a great decade.....I was there !

I would love to love this film. I would love it to sum up the Swingin' 60s. I love the 60s.

But Americans had to come along and spoil it ........first musically; and then in their movies. This movie may have broken new ground at the time but I watched it then and I watch it again sometimes........hoping for some glorious nostalgia of a great decade-----and never finding it in this mediocre film which is so pretentious. It's in the same category as Zabriskie Point-----and that means : 'groan '.

I single out Dennis Hopper as an actor and director who never fails to disappoint, with his awful lack of talent.

If any youngsters want to get a feel for the Swingin'60s scene in an enjoyable way which portrays the real 'feel' of the time........go to 'Help' or 'Hard Days Night' or 'Blow-Up' or 'Georgy Girl' or 'Darling' or 'Alfie'..........go to a British film instead of Easy Rider's foretaste of America's descent into the sorry place it went on to become.....and its drug-ridden violent society of the present day.

  • Easy watching but dated.

Watched this again recently. Not the classic I remember . Has not really stood the test of time . Dated predictable 60s drugs , sex, intended to shock. Watchable though ,and with a great soundtrack.

  • disappointing oldie

I was looking forward to watch this movie, but I was pretty disappointed. It must have been a great movie back in the '60s and early '70, but in my opinion it simply didn't stand the test of time. I wouldn't call it a cult movie anymore, it should pass this title on to other-more memorable-road movies.

The central characters' marijuana smoking, pill-popping, pacifist hippy dude antics must have been a cool and novelty idea to put on celluloid back in '69, but seem pretty tame compared to today's standards.

I just found it outdated and uninspiring.

Stupendous it shakes you out of your comfort zone and inspires you in ways you never thought possible.

This is a different type of movie; along the likes of cinemas most bizarre films; Black Biscuit (Fabrizio Federico), Tarnation (Jonathan Caouette), and Performance (Donald Cammell).

Both Beautiful and spellbinding - A must see.

This film is seen often hailed as one of the best films ever made. Why? The acting is dreadful, the plot simplistic and meaningless. A huge disappointment and I'm sorry I rented it.
