Thankfully no hollywood over theatrics in this tale about an elderly gent who takes in his pregnant niece and homosexual nephew when they are thrown out off their family homes......an understated performance from all concerned make this film very enjoyable
Just want to get something off my chest first of all... Jesse Garcia (Carlos) is HOT HOT HOT! Would love to see more of him(!)
OK, the film seems to follow 2 main stories, the pregnancy of underage Magdalena and the trials of Carlos being a gay 'chollo' , both of which are frowned upon in the latino community and the Catholic Church.
The story between these two themes is a little mixed and does kind of dilute them. However the point is made and there is a positivity factor overall.
I do feel there is still much to be done in latin culture to accept gay men and this film does attempt to sway the attitude.
Overall I enjoyed this film.
