Eddie Murphy - Delirious
23rd March 2011
Having seen (and quite liked) 'Raw', I thought I would try Delirious. Put it this way - I'm glad I rented this, and didn't buy it!
Whilst 'Raw' was performed in a similar manner, with copious bad language and plenty of 'take a friendly swipe at the white guy' - at least the gags were funny, and the rapid fire insults were relevant to the gag, and skilfully delivered. Not the case with 'Delirious'.
Other viewers have said this is classic Murphy, and it may well be, but for me, it just seems all to out of date. The jokes are little more than plain insults, with what would appear to me minimal effort to actually craft a gag out of them.
If you are a hardcore Eddie Murphy fan, it might be worth renting this, if for no other reason than to see him doing something other than a feature film. Otherwise, there is virtually nothing I can recommend about this DVD personally.
