    Quite slow, quite boring

This is one of those movies that isn't quite bad enough to make me hit the stop button but it's not that far off.

Charlotte Roche is not an actress.

I really like Charlotte Roche, I think she is one of the finest German TV personalities. But an actress she ain't. At least she did not convince me in this film. The story itself is a bit weird but still interesting. All the other actors are doing a good job but I think the director should have opted for a more experienced actress in the lead role.

    Nice but slow

This is a lovely, quirky little fable beautifully, if a littly slowly, narrated. An inspiration for any aspiring chefs and a warning to neglegent husbands.

    pleasant tragi comedy

This film has many rewards for those prepared to follow it through. It deals with family issues, disability and our often callous attitude towards it, friendship and food! It's true that the main actor is weak, but she gets away with this from a 'smile if you can't act' perspective which just works. Besides, people have been watching Casualty for years and put up with the wooden acting of Charlie Fairhead.... The rest of the cast do well and make the story come alive. There is humour here, the Germans can laugh, and you might want to get in the kitchen after watching it. This is a sensitive, genuine and warm film which is a delight to watch, which is much more than a German chick-flick. f you like that kind of thing, then watch it. If you don't then go and watch Iron Man or some such Hollywood dollar-fodder.....instead

By the way, some people might be offended by various aspects of butchery in the film, of the animal sort.

    Not quite perfect

This is the sort of film we have received from other Europeans before this German effort at conveying the magic of delicious food. 'Chocolat' & 'Babette's Feast' both succeeded in conveying power over the palette while also being emotionally moving. 'Eden' is somewhat similar in its intentions and its a passable yarn but unfortunately it fails to move one. There is little cumulative emotional effect. At its end you can only say, 'Pleasant story!'

    Nice little film

If you have no problem with subtitles and are into food/cookery programmes then this is a little gem. Possibly a little slow in parts but has a couple of great scenes and the characters are well played. Not in the same league as Chocolat but well worth seeing. I would personally rate it at 3.5 stars.

A bittersweet drama literally and figuratively

THe quality of the image was quite bad, not sure what's wrong with the DVD vbut it looks like it was made cheaply.

However the story is good and different from anything you've ever seen.

If you are a gourmet, don't miss it.
