A film which takes a closer look at the story behind the creation of Albert Einstein's general theory of relativity and the personal lives of the men behind it. This human story chronicles two men who, during the First World War, refused to accept narrow nationalistic boundaries and, against the odds, continued to strive for .. Read more

It is bizarre that the BBC made this and even more bizarre that they tried to sensationalise what were fairly unimportant events. Einstein and Eddington were essentially boring and dour people. They corresponded during war-time when England v Germany was playing, but this was not the terrible crime for scientists portrayed in this film.
The acting and production are good, but as with most BBC productions of late the screen play is rubbish. The portrayal of Einstein as a robust man (he was more of a weedy swot) is way off mark and the treatment of Eddington's homosexuality is laughable.
brilliant bbc production love this type of film bringing historical moments the light they deserve well worth watching two brilliant cast parts
Einstein and Eddington really is the BBC at it's best, it's wonderfully made, very well scripted and really gives you an insight into their lives and the period.
I'm very science minded so for me the 'sciencey' bits were great as you get to see how the theories evolved and how/why it was such a big deal at the time.
My wife struggled a little with those bits but on the whole thoroughly enjoyed it because the science was well balanced with what was going on in their personal lives, and the period in general.
If I could give it more than 5 stars I would!
A little dramatised to be considered truly accurate, but none the less, a very interesting and informative documentary. I would have preferred a little more actual science rather than dumbed down analogies of very complicated physical ideas. However, for anyone who wants to know about general relativity or Einstein, it's definitely worth it.

David Tennant as Eddington and his fellow co-star as Einstein are fantastic in this film.
Other characters in the film are so bullish and narrow minded - both sides thinking that scientists are not above politics. A very refreshing and thoroughly enjoyable film.
Very good acting. Accurate historically as always from the BBC. For those who have complained about the screen play, perhaps you should consider that Einstein didn't ever speak at great length or elaborate much on the various statements that he made, most of what he said was written and half of that was in the language of mathematics.
nodded off after first 15 mins
The storytelling during this film was unnecessary and I was expecting a more than average film.
I am not a fan of David Tennant so I guess I was onto a loser with this one. It's very dull and tedious.
Interesting to learn about the link between these two scientists.
