Love and death in a gypsy setting
By a customer , 04 Jun 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
Surprisingly, the brief description on the website does not match the dance drama of the DVD. There is no evidence of a Flamenco troupe. The cast portray gypsies living in a shanty town and the events which follow from the marriage of a gypsy girl to a womaniser, his murder defending the honour of one of his lovers, a ritual of mourning involving his ghost and his still loving widow unaware of his philandering. Learning of this, the widow seeks revenge and the ghost is laid by ritual and the widow finds happiness with a man who has always loved her from afar.
There is a strong story line in which the choreography takes the form of skilful flamenco dancing and acting to set the scene and mood. I liked it as a dance drama, although it might not be to everybody's taste.- Was this review helpful to you?

(2)A Gipsy story with Da Falla music
By riskysmith (121 reviews) , 18 Sep 2012Although this disc shows its age being from the 1980s, the picture is acceptable, and is worth renting. The tragic story of two Gipsy couples is set to the music of Da Falla and includes some excellent dancing.- Was this review helpful to you?
