Its a compliment to Alexander Payne`s direction that none of the characters ends up being truly likeable.

Whilst Reese Witherspoon probably leaves the most lasting impression with her brilliant portrayal of tracy enid flick, all the leads give their roles depth.

An enjoyable film that is sometimes painful to watch.
