For all the reviews that are along the lines of 'I usually enjoy Reese Witherspoon's films, but this is nothing like them' then i'd agree... because it isnt meant to be some kind of teen-not-funny-comedy-romance... this is a very intelligently crafted satire that goes much deeper than the usual shallow jokes that some are obviously expecting.

To the other people that have commented 'This is just a film about the usual boffin vs the jock', again this isnt accurate as it explores the deeper issues behind the people that are the boffin or the jock and why they are why they are and the emotions and actions that these different lives prompt within them.

Every actor is great in this film and perfect for their particular parts, with Matthew Broderick miles away from his unltra-cool Ferris Bueller days as the dead-end-teacher who attempts to foil Witherspoon's chances of winning the school Election.

Satirical and clever this film is one to watch and enjoy many times over.

If you're looking for an easy going teen romance/comedy, where no thought power is required, then this isnt for you.
