eagerly anticipated
By Jurdz from Cheshire , 17 Nov 2003[Highly rated reviewer]
I have this on LaserDisc - remember them? They were the first discs (OK so they wer 12", yes, 12") to contain movies. They were only analog and the players were the size of concordes instrumentation panel, but we had films on disc for the first time. This was one of the first discs I bought cos I was HEAVILY into ELO (Still like 'em now). I eagerly anticipated hearing the quite moving speech/introduction by Tony Curtis, but it wasn't there. This DVD brings it all back, even the guests arriving amid all the muffled converstion. And then there's the performance by ELO themselves. I've heard all the rumours about the tape machine hidden on stage but it doesn't change a thing. This performance was MAGIC. Lasers for the first time, at what lasers! All the hits are here, Mr Blue Sky, Sweet Talkin Woman etc and all capped off with a spectacular version of Roll Over Beethoven. Not only that, but the disc also contains video versions of ALL the songs on the Discovery album. What a treat!- Was this review helpful to you?

(14)WOW, gonna watch it again
By rustythestarlight (11 reviews) from Reading , 09 Feb 2012Watched the whole concert, really very good, wish I'd been there. the 70's video mixing was annoying, someone on the controll panel had been given a new toy and went overboard!
but apart from that...brilliant!
they should recreate that concert again with brand new special effects...i'd pay top dollar to see it!- Was this review helpful to you?

Showing its age but packed full of hits
By mcmrbt (51 reviews) from Buckingham , 22 Feb 2011My first ever gig, this ELO tour for Out of the Blue. Never did get the point of the spaceship. Sound is fairly rock-mushy, but the band is tight and the performances are sound.
The video quality reveals the age of this period piece, but it's worth watching to remind yourself of how many great songs the ELO produced.- Was this review helpful to you?

A Great Music Performance
By Reaverman (5 reviews) from Camberley , 24 Dec 2010But, the visual work does lack. Too many static cameras, set too far back. With moderate close up work, and awful segways/visual effects.
However it has to be taken into account, that this was all done in 1978. Also the bands performance, does make for some good viewing.- Was this review helpful to you?

EKO Out of the Blue at Wembley
By Tedesco (31 reviews) from Epsom , 12 Mar 2010I was there in 1978 - great show - first lasers - and that spaceship opening ... However I have to agree with all the previous comments about poor sound (we had better sound on vinyl in those days - and still have) and rubbish editing of the video...still it's what memories are made of!- Was this review helpful to you?

Poor Video
By ChubbyArse (3 reviews) from Gloucester , 09 Jun 2009Shame that the video lets down the msuic on this one. The dramatic intro on stage is completely obscured by the editor - who seems to be playing with a new toy and splicing up what could be good footage in a montage with makes no sense.
You have pictures moving around over other pictures, and the spliting into 7 version at times. It's just awful! But I concede that it is reminiscent of that time to have awful video!!
Music is fab though!- Was this review helpful to you?
