  • Real life in the slums of Rio

I saw this film in Brazil last year when it came out there. I only understand basic portuguese and there were no subtitles but i was still glued to the story all the way through.

In my opinion, this is better than 'City of God'

It gives a real and pretty honest look at the situation in the favelas in Rio, allowing you to take a look at things from both the perspective of the 'traffickers' or drug dealers, and the police, who risk their lives for a job that pays pennies.

    Amazing.

Brilliant film, easy to follow subtitles and absolutely brutal. Would love to see more on this elite police force in one of the worlds most dangerous cities.

Unless you're one of those morons that can't read subtitles, you'll find this is a great movie. Good plot, good acting, well produced.

Good Film, Well worth a watch. A brutal illustration of life in Brazil. Can't help but feel for the good police, corruption is rife and the innocent as usual are on the getting the good news.

This was a pretty decent film about Brazil's elite police force, tasked with taking down both the drugs cartels and police corruption from within. It was a very gritty and sometimes brutal film, and was fairly tense throughout. On the downside, it was a little repetitive in parts, at one point I felt like I'd watched the same scene play out 3 times only with different actors each time. Hasn't quite interested me enough to catch the sequel but it was entertaining enough for a couple of hours.
