Real life in the slums of RioBy a customer from Macclesfield , 21 May 2008
[Highly rated reviewer]I saw this film in Brazil last year when it came out there. I only understand basic portuguese and there were no subtitles but i was still glued to the story all the way through.
In my opinion, this is better than 'City of God'
It gives a real and pretty honest look at the situation in the favelas in Rio, allowing you to take a look at things from both the perspective of the 'traffickers' or drug dealers, and the police, who risk their lives for a job that pays pennies.

The good and the badBy Pecavvi (1 review) , 02 Apr 2013Good straight forward action film. Realistic portrayal of the difficulties of policing in corrupt environments where right and wrong is a very thin line
Not for the faint-hearted! Excellent movieBy ChrisW8 (50 reviews) , 31 Mar 2013Don't be put off by sub-titles, this is an excellent 'warts 'an all' story of life in the Rio slums and the difficulties faced by the police. It shows the tightrope people walk as they dabble in the drugs scene thinking that it's a victimless crime ..... from their privileged positions of wealth, and the incredible stresses placed on those who try to stop the rot, by whatever means. Not for the faint-hearted.
real very realBy brillbrill (1 review) , 20 Mar 2013This film is really good, hard hitting and focused on reality a must see in my opinion and lets hope there is more to come
Brutal and stunning, not for the squeamish.By Georgeah (14 reviews) , 17 Mar 2013A stunning film that for once portrays life like it really is in places like this. Drug dealers and runners kill people every day with their trade, this really is the only type of message they understand. Brutal 'yes' but very necessary at times.
Very enjoyableBy Neeleshs (3 reviews) , 05 Feb 2013Excellent film, very brutal and gritty but you can only feel it's a true portrayal of how it must be.. and very original storyline for a film of this genre.
