A distinctly American phenomenon, Elvira (real name Cassandra Peterson) is a camp vampette, an amalgam of Morticia Addams and Dolly Parton, who hosts horror movie nights on television. Graduating to her own feature movie, Peterson is cast as, well, a television horror movie host who inherits a haunted house. Horror buffs may get a kick out of the numerous references to the genre, but the rest of us will be bored by the predictable plot and unimpressed with the shoddy effects.
