Emanuelle In Bangkok

Now by any movie standards this would barely scrape one star, but by Emanuelle standards this is perfectly okay as a bit of kitch nostalgic erotica. It really should be watched by Mystery Theatre 3000, or maybe with a mate or girlfriend in frisky mood so you can take the mickey out of it.

Photography is quite chic, none of the blokes are under 45, they're all tanned, leathery, Aviator shades and navy blazers with foreign accents. The film is dubbed, lending it all the sincerity of a shampoo commercial. As for the erotica, it's just Emanuelle (a Melanie Sykes/Fatima Blush lookalike this time round) soaping other girls' breasts in the bath. I'm not sure if some scenes aren't censored here; she seems to get gang raped at one point but it happens offscreen and she doesn't seem to mind. Other 'erotic' scenes seem to fade out. Otherwise she goes to Bangkok then Casablanca evangelising her brand of erotic liberty and fortune cookie wisdom to slightly naive blondes. At one point what sounds like the Goons' Ying Tong Song kicks in. Oh, it's all completely pointless and Emanuelle could do with a square meal; the 'coupling' recalls Don't Look Back with Christie and Sunderland - all rangey limbs, concave stomachs and bony ribcages.
