My interest in this excellent film is twofold really; firstly the alien landscape shots were filmed in the Canary Islands on Lanzarote, a favourite holiday destination for many, including myself and secondly this is not your regular run of the mill sci-fi movie, far from it! Dennis Quaid plays the human and Louis Gossett, Jr. plays the alien in the film. They are stranded on a harsh planet and must overcome their differences in order to survive. Wolfgang Petersen directed this movie and such hits as Air Force One, Outbreak, and In the Line of Fire. Quaid and Gossett acting performances are excellence in this feature. Petersen did a wonderful job of directing. A must see for all lovers of quality sci-fi movies
