Escape From Taliban

Sushmita (Manisha Koirala), an Indian girl, falls blindly in love with Jaanbaaz Khan (Nawab Khan) an Afghani. They get married in India and she moves with him to his home town, Sarana, near Kabul. Here, reality hits her as she discovers the completely alien culture that she has hoped to live in – the Taliban regime’s restrictions soon begin to impact her life. She is tortured, abused and almost loses her sanity – yet she survives, to make her escape. The film is directed by award winning director Ujjal Chattopadhyay and is based on the true-life experiences of Sushmita Bandhopadhyay.
