You can't really blame Lew Grade. As an entrepreneur, he knew that star names sell movies; as a mogul, he had the power to pull together movie packages with big names. Unfortunately, despite his best efforts and intentions, most of his film-producing legacy is, regrettably, a pile of old tosh. This is a prime example: a slight plot combines an ancient treasure caper with a Second World War escape adventure and wastes the talents of such diverse names as David Niven, Elliott Gould, Claudia Cardinale and Sonny Bono. And they aren't even the leads! If you can bear to watch a movie starring Roger Moore and Telly Savalas, then well and good, this might be the solution to while away a couple of hours.

This is a rollicking, non stop action film with favourites Roger Moore, David Niven, Telly Savalas, and Elliott Gould all giving performances that you would expect from them. The World War 2 story line is a bit weak and at times hard to follow but it all works out in the end. Nearly two hours of typical 70s fun and adventure and it does not show its age other than we know that David Niven is no longer with us and Roger Moore looks much older these days.
