Ensemble films which revolve around insane families are always funny. This time the deranged family meet for the funeral of their father. Members include: the failed actor (Hank Azaria) still living off the one commercial he did as a kid for peanut butter, the single father (Ray Everybody Loves Raymond Romano)with a pair of oversexed teens, the mother (Piper Laurie) so tired of life she attempts in vain to committ suicide countless times, the bitter moaning sister (Debra Winger) who has scared her husband into silence, the lesbian sister (Kelly Preston) who arrives with her lover (Famke Janssen) and finally the good daughter (Zooey Deschanel) who tries to keep it all together. The script is sharp, the comedy dark and highly amusing. If you don't find the premise funny, you will probably hate the movie, if you are giggling inside - enjoy!
