    A must

If you like good music well played then this is the dvd for you.

Claudio Abbado's orchestration is brilliant as always. Couple this with excellent musicians, faithful sound reproduction then you have a sure fire recipe for an excellent evenings relaxation.

A must for serious music lovers.

    A perfect musical concert

It wasn't just the music and seeing a fine orchestra playing. The ambience of that beautiful theatre, and the obvious enjoyment of the audience added to the pleasure.

The performance of Dvorak's ninth was the best I have ever experienced; every phrase was controlled perfectly by Claudio Abbadio (then in his seventies).

The last piece, the Sicilian Vespers is probably a kind of anthem for the people of Palermo.

Abbadio came out alone after the orchestra had left and was showered with flowers as he stood there smiling with delight.
