What you would expect and more
By a customer from Leeds , 15 Jan 2010[Highly rated reviewer]
For those that have never seen Evangelion then this is a good place to start. This movie is basically the first six episodes all re-done to be brought up to today's standards plus some changes here and there. This however is not a *movie* at least not with an ending. like I said its basically the first 6 episodes so don't expect to learn much from watching. The other movies are still being made, 3 altogether I think. Storyline = 8/10 Animation = 9/10 Music = 8/10 Overall = 8.5/10 I would defiantly recommend watching this great anime.- Was this review helpful to you?

(10)Sci-fi fantasy where anything is possible.
By a customer , 05 Dec 2011Being an anime fan and a fan of the TV series - watching this was awesome!
The film is the first of 4 (two of which number 3 and 4 haven't been released yet) which has taken the original TV series and re-mastered it into a superb animation. This first film is the first 6 episodes of the TV series combined.
This is great viewing for someone who hasn't watched the TV series and great viewing for nostalgic reasons if you have!
The story is a sci-fi fantasy where anything is possible. Set in the future, where 'Angels' huge horrid like alien creatures are determined to get rid of the human race. The only things that have managed to destroy them so far are 'Evas', huge robotic creatures controlled by children. Evangelion has many levels, with religious sybolism and a touch of physcology - how would you react if one day you were suddenly taken to a top secret underground lair, introduced to a giantic robot which only you can pilot and told the survival of human kind rests on your shoulders?- Was this review helpful to you?

BIG THINGS FIGHTING!
By jesuskenevil (245 reviews) from Bruton , 17 Jul 2010A pretty run of the mill Manga with some very well realized city scapes and structural animation. Occasional pieces of exceptional music followed by clunky dialogue and 'made for tv' acting. BUT HAS GOT BIG THINGS FIGHTING!- Was this review helpful to you?

This one makes sense!
By AtipAkira (19 reviews) from Brecon , 24 May 2010Having watched the entire series and being confused right up till the end, this 1st part to the story makes it easy to understand a lot more of the in-depth emotions and character development. The added scenes are great and show a lot more of the best scene from the original series. This is great for new people to the franchise as well old time fans. I did not check out the extras so i cant comment on them sorry. Really looking forward to part 2 and cant wait for the scenes with Oska.- Was this review helpful to you?

Neon Genesis is back
By santefering (3 reviews) from Telford , 19 May 2010For fans of the original series, this is a nice update and well worth watching in Hi-def.
Those who have never watched Neon Genesis before, this is probably a better version to watch rather than the original series (unless you want to wonder and speculate if the series directors sanity was in question).
Now lets hope the sequel comes to us soon.- Was this review helpful to you?
