If you're looking for undemanding viewing, this frivolous TV movie reuniting Six Million Dollar Man Lee Majors with the Bionic Woman (Lindsay Wagner) is just the ticket. The story has the bionic duo coming out of retirement to foil a terrorist who is about to launch a nuclear-tipped missile; they also must free the ambassador to the Bahamas, whose embassy has been hijacked. After the daring heroics, the couple finally get hitched. Fans of the TV shows will like seeing how their heroes have aged, but this sombre version is sorely lacking in the originals' comic-book elements.

A marvelous film - suitable for just about anyone

When this popped through my mailbox I couldn't understand why on earth I asked for it. Cinderella for a middle-aged man? Must have been a great review somewhere that did it. So now it's my turn to spread the word……

This is simply a great piece of movie-making. It takes the well-known fairy-tale/panto characters and makes them actually believable. The stepmother (Anjelica Huston) is totally selfish rather than catoonishly "wicked", similarly the "ugly" sisters given flawed but separate identities - Melanie Lynskey provides wonderful comic relief.

Drew Barrymore looks the part through and through but the masterstroke is replacing the magical "fairy godmother" with Leonard de Vinci! Sounds crazy but it works, Cast your prejudice aside - This is a fairy-tale for everyone.

The fairy tale of Cinderella has been retold many times over the years. However, it isn't often that such a retelling results in a film as revisionist in Ever After. Eliminating the fantastical elements (pumpkins and fairy godmothers), while enhancing the romantic angle, Ever After strives to recast the fairy tale as a misunderstood episode in history. The result works surprisingly well. There is, however, one critical flaw in the story which Ever After never addresses. Why does the social climbing Baroness Rodmilla deign to marry Danielle's low-born father. It's a crucial question which underlies the film's themes of class inequality. However, the film shies away from ever providing a substantive answer. Drew Barrymore delivers a fair performance as the lead. She's definately more headstrong than most previous Cinderellas. At least, she has a reliable supporting cast to lean on. Dougray Scott provides an admirable romantic interest, and Anjelica Huston is perfectly cast as the wicked stepmother. Romantics will no doubt enjoy Ever After, easily overlooking its flaws. Others who attend will find, while not a perfect film, one which is better than they hoped.

    Finally, a 3D prince charming!

The best thing about this truly excellent retelling of 'Cinderella' is that Prince Charming finally becomes a real person! Instead of the usual handsome prince come to rescue poor helpless Danielle, she is quite capable of rescuing herself and he is far from perfect. It is a shock when he finds out that she's not who he thought and he reacts badly, as most people would when being made to look foolish in public.

The same is true of the wicked stepmother: there is a reason for her treatment of danielle and with that, she too becomes a real person. Not a good person, but not some kind of inhuman monster either.

That is not to say that the film doesn't have faults, there are certain holes in its logic which grate somewhat, such as Danielle's ability with a sword. But these do not really impact your enjoyment of the story. And it is nice to finally see Cincerella something other than a helpless victim.

This is definately a chick flick. The female members of the family really enjoyed watching this new spin on a old fairy tale. Although still set in the period, it updates the cinderella story by portraying women with intelligence and independance. The design of the production is beautiful and the quality of the acting adds depth. Excellent viewing.

A film to make you go

A great film! Based on a fairy tale makes it even more romantic! Drew Barrymore is amazing, a smart, beautiful woman playing a smart, beautiful character. There is no denying it, this film is a great chick flick, and if you're in the mood, a pretty good tear jerker. A fan of Drew? Watch this film! Excellent!

Good film for a rainy Sunday Afternoon. Certainly gives you the Feel good factor. Good acting from a good cast(full of people who were in 'You know that other film') and a nice story line. Recommended.
