Fast-moving horror movie with flashy camerawork and an exuberant taste in sick jokes.
Evil Dead II is a terrific piece of film. It has the spine-chilling haunting horror characteristics, the jump out of your skin scenes, copious amount of gore, and oodles of comedy.
Sam Raimey thoroughly encapsulates the sensation of isolation in and in the vicinity of the cabin. One of the magnificent factors concerning the film is that the 'monster' isn't the zombies so far as it is the ethereal malevolent spirit.
There are occasions where the effects are tacky but it essentially supplements the films appeal. The characters are good as well: The archaeologists daughter and her boyfriend, the backwards hillbilly and his delightful girlfriend. Then there is Ash. Its worth seeing for his one-liners alone.
I consider this to be an finer flick than the first Evil Dead.
Whatever Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell do in the future-their careers will be always be defined by THIS movie..(And that includes Spiderman I,II..Darkman..Quick And The Dead..The Gift..and the others)
Owing more to the THREE STOOGES than the haunted house movies, this is wonderful movie making on a budget.Bruce Campbell is probably THE most underrated and charismatic actor of all time! If you thought comedy and horror don`t mix-see this movie and you`ll change your mind. Hilarious, stylish, scary, and with GREAT one-liners,it`s Evil Dead 1 RELOADED with more money, more style, more laughs and more,more,more..!
Continuation of the events in the original "Evil Dead" movie. After recapping the events of the first movie (telling the story somewhat differently, even eliminating three of the characters), this movie has poor, tormented Ash (Bruce Campbell) constantly being harassed and tortured by sadistic demons - including, in the movie's most memorable sequence, his own possessed hand.
Absolutely hilarious; this effective mix of hardcore horror and slapstick comedy provides a lot of laughs, impressive effects, and the very game Campbell putting up with a lot as the film-makers set out to abuse his character as much as possible. "Evil Dead 2" manages to be even more entertaining than the first movie, a goofy and fun horror/comedy with a chaotic finale that I would recommend to any fan of this genre.
What is also funny is that the character of Ash is already showing signs of the super-obnoxious moron he would become in "Army of Darkness".
this is one of the best films u will ever see. just rent and watch, rent and watch, rent and watch.you get the picture.

Sporting the tagline, Kiss your nerves goodbye - Evil dead 2 is essentially a re-make of Sam Raimis first Evil dead movie. This time round the movies bigger budget is noticeable in the effects department. However, the movie remains loyal by weaving in and out the original storyline. It differs with its slightly more tongue-in-cheek approach with more gore, more frights and an interesting twist at the end allowing for the classic pun in the third movie in the series: The Medieval Dead.
Bruce Campbell is back in his superb role as Ashley, the store clerk looking forward to a quiet weekend away with his girlfriend in a cabin in the woods. His weekend turns out to be anything but quiet. Inadvertently, he summons evil spirits when he finds spooky incantations on a tape recorder belonging to a Professor researching into the phenomena. When his girlfriend is possessed, Ashley is forced to kill her and buries her out in the woods. But she doesnt stay in the ground long. She returns to the cabin to aide the evil spirits in wrecking havoc and generally making Ashleys life hell. And they succeed with horrific and hilarious results.
This is a gem of a movie paying tribute to the original, which in its own right is an all time classic having inspired and influenced a whole new genre of horror flicks. The camera work, in particular the first person POV of the demon/evil spirit is unique for its time, producing astonishing results. Bruce Campbells role is highly commendable. His facial expressions alone allow the audience to empathise with his agony. The film does lack the eerie spookiness of the original but makes up with the laughs and the gore that is exaggerated for maximum effect. A must for horror fans!
I like this film, it works' better than the first because it has humour, and its setup lends itself to some laughs, as does Campbell, who looks much more at ease with it.
Its not really a sequel, more of a reworking of the first, how the first one would have been with more money.
It does away with your typical horror build up, and pretty much goes straight into the action. One major falling point is the physical presence of the 'EVIL', it looks like a hand on from little shop of horrors, and is about as scary as a slightly rotting cabbage.
Saying that Its a good film, if you've seen the first you definately need to see this.
this is one of the best films u will ever see. just rent and watch, rent and watch, rent and watch.you get the picture.
Definitely the best of the evil dead films, particularly the 'hand' scene. This film is a must for all horror film lovers.
This, in my opinion, is the least good of the trilogy but it's still great fun to watch. It's just slapstick, horror fun with silly (but quite effective) special effects. If you're a fan of the first one, you'll probably like thia one but a little less. Keep going and see the third oe as well though, it's great.
Not only the best horror movie, one of the most original movies ever made.
Its constantly knocks you sideways from one scene into the next.
Funny, scary, brilliant.
This is what the first movie would have been like if they had more money! No need to see the original but if you like the genre check it out. A chainsaw on his arm, how cool is that!
