Laugh along with this
By a customer from Epsom, England , 11 Aug 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
I didn't hold out a lot of hope for this movie, but was pleasantly surprised to find myself laughing along with its farcical plot.
Cops Sheila (Rosie O'Donnell) and Fred (Dan Aykroyd) are sent to the fantasy sex island to retrieve the photographs taken by Elliott Slater (Paul Mercurio)of a diamond smuggler. Unfortunately the diamond smuggler also wants the photos back and sends in assassins.
This offers an adult comedy with some rather well sign posted twists.- Was this review helpful to you?

(7)a good third rate film- claims to explore the world of BDSM, but ends up more vanilla than a convoy of ice-cream trucks
By fengzi (10 reviews) from Durham , 12 Nov 2010At times painfully annoying, with bad music and cliche, contains good and somewhat arousing moments, a fairly griping plot together with some amusing comic moments. As BDSM goes, still remains very vanilla and a little disappointing, lacking real psychological insight. Perhaps for a mainstream American film it was a little risque, but it just seems a little bland as fetish or BDSM goes, certainly compared with a film like the Secretary.
I have scene far more insightful films into the dynamic of BDSM relationship; this one prefers to just fall into the trap of in a way a very standard, rather sugary sweet, romantic comedy, despite the curious gender role reversal of comically sexually repressed men and emotionally repressed women.
It seems that most of the male actors in the film were chosen for the physique rather than acting ability.
Not an entirely hopeless film- Was this review helpful to you?

Dire
By Lee Walker from SE London , 17 Oct 2009There is only one word to describe this film, 'dire', although this is probably to keep the american audiences happy meaning that most of the book didn't make it into the film. Watch it if only to see why Paul Mercurio Hollywood career suddenly nosedived after gaining fame in Strictly Ballroom.- Was this review helpful to you?

Kinky little comedy!
By Brighouse1971 (155 reviews) from Brighouse, WY , 03 Jul 2009This movie is definitely nothing special, for the mind, but gives you some laughs.
I especially like the comedic word duel of the two stars Akroyd and O'Donnell.
The story is very easy and makes not much sense, but the slapstick comedy and the sexual explanations are certainly quite amusing!
Slapstick, pure!!- Was this review helpful to you?
