Moving stuff

Nearly made me cry and i never cry, stunning stuff not a massive fan of the extra's series but the script and acting was top notch,really moving....

Gervais & Merchant pull it off

It's popular to knock Gervais off his perch these days. His growing paunch and his smugness have turned the British public against him. There is, however, no doubt at the man's talent at putting television programmes together. This is good stuff. So good, you can overlook the fact that he's essentially shooting fish in a barrel. Andy Millman's battle between artisitic credibility and fame is a no brainer. The mock sitcom is so bad, the catchphrase so weak, the dismissing of its audience so cut and dried that we're never asked to think or care about it .We're left looking elsewhere for dramatic tension. The good news is we do care about Maggie (Ashley Jenson) the friend that gets left behind. There a couple of wordless moments when Jenson steals the show with a half smile that reminds us that the core of Extras is a tale of two friends growing up. George Michael heads up the celeb cameos with Clive Owen being a good sport by coming across as a complete git. However, iits Eastender's Dean Gaffney who steals it by looking remarkably at home in the carphone warehouse. Oh and hearing Lionel Blair talk of his aching back is as tragi-comic as anything Samuel Beckett wrote about the universe. Showbusiness? Don't make me laugh.

Brilliant

Gervais has done it again.

The whole hour and a half is engaging with some side splitting scenes and gags. The A listers Gervais has got onto this is nothing short of incredible with George Michael and others others involved. The ending is moving and compelling. Does justice to the first 2 series.

A fantastic watch.

Extras Christmas Special. I have waited for approx 1 year to see this.

Loved it, abslutely loved it !!! Nearly shed a tear at the end of it too.

Extras Christmas Special

I missed this on tv so got it on Blu Ray and was not dissapointed, as a comedy it hits all the right notes but what surprised me more was the warmth of the whole show.

Funny,engaging,honest and sometimes emotional. Gervais takes us on another journey with ups and downs in Andy Millmans life and left me wanting more from a character no one should like but you cant help yourself in the end.

Highly recommended for a good night in with a few beers.

Extras' sad fairwell

Just like 'The Office' Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant have managed to create an absolute gem, a sitcom of only about 13 episodes that is not only one of the funniest of all time but involving some how you really care about the fictional characters these two writers create.

The Christmas special is typical of the Gervais/Merchant partnership and a near perfect ending to a superb series, much more serious than series one and two, but none the less there are belly laughs to be had and with a rather surprising display of quality acting by Gervais and his cast, the ending is brilliant and somewhat emotional.

if you haven't seen 'Extras' you need to watch them and if you can, I'd advise watching them in order.

If you have seen series one and two but not the Christmas Special, you NEED to see this, it's simply superb.

overall I love 'Extras' and I think anyone who likes their comedy will too.
