Yet another thought provoking from Israel, set in the strict rules of the othodox Jewish Faith. The pressures such an existence and pretence can bring is vididly shown and the acting is of a very high standard. A film you may wish to view twice to get its full impact.

Shocking reality of today's orthodox jews in modern Israeli society. Wonderfully made, thought-provoking and very real. Sad ending that makes us all think why the 'Purity Police' is still allowed to flourish in contemporary and developed and sophisticated Israel.

I really liked this movie..well acted and depicts the ultimate dilemma between religious/family beliefs / restrictions on expressing yourself sexually and that which we want and yearn for inside... ultimate sexual freedom... I found it realistic, moving and the scene set drew you in...you felt part of the movie...tho low budget it had all you needed to feel the movie and of course what the men really felt inside...desire and self-satisfaction -vs- the right thing !...sad really that this goes on but it DOES..everywhere. Well worth watching, I was impressed overall.

  • Good- not great.

I feel so bad because everyone seems to rate this film so highly, but I honestly just thought it was an okay film. I thought the trailer was better. The film was shot beautifully, it tackled homosexuality in a place full of small minded people, where every body knows everybody's business, very well. The actors were good and portrayed very real people... but It didn't change my life. To be honest it never pushed me to any extreme emotion, and that is, well in my opinion, what takes a film from being good to being great. Better than most films dealing with homosexuality, a good deal better in fact, But despite it's heart, it was hardly groundbreaking.

  • Surprising subject for such a conservative society

A thought provoking and shocking film. I like many others do not agree with Israels policy towards the Palestinians. I wanted to see a film that an Israeli may watch. I was surprised by its frankness but I'm glad I watched it.

  • A touching film with adorable characters

I know its a story oft told but the two central charaters will keep you going. The chemistry between them is great and as slow as the movie is it will keep you engrossed. Its a tale of our secret feelings that loads of people are unable to show/be themselves due to society pressures. The backdrop of Jerusalem just adds to that mystique. If you are attracted to the two main charaters then you will of course enjoy the movie more and if not [that way!] then too they are very adorable and you feel for them. All in all a movie for the ones who enjoy good movies/stories [ no matter if you are gay or st8] The intimate scenes are not vulgar but very sensual and touching. You get to peep into the Orthodox Jewish Community life, not sure if its still the same but its well depicted. There more people than you can imagine who will be able to relate to this movie, from both the men's sides as their backgrounds are different. Recommended!
