I got stuck quite quickly without the instructions for this. There seemed to be no way to advance in story mode without completing the first track in 'hard' mode. Which seemed impossible.

There was no in-game guidance either.

Lots of people seem to rave about this game. It didn't really grab me. It was also frustrating being forced to retire from a race from time to time.

At the first instinct, the name F-Zero GX screams speed and velocity. Indeed, that is the purposeof the game. When you hear about speed it is nothing compared to this game.

Revolving around speed the game offers a large selection of tracks and characters with customisable options. However, its playability is limited by its sharp learning curve for beginners.

The challenges as well as having to cope with mind melting speeds, make this one of the hardest games ever made. It doesn't help that the game is merciless for people that fail.

I am an avid video games player, and yet I find it frustrating and irritating. However, if you are prepared in to put the time and effort, beyond the numerous crashes as you find your feet on the tracks, the experience of unlocking new things is worth it.

To summarise, this game is not for individuals who want a nice driving simulator.

  • Unchallenged version of the n64

A great sequel to the snes and n64 versions with plenty of tracks characters and a good sountrack. Actual gameplay is still spot on going upto breathtaking speeds of 1000+ km/h while still maintaining incredible handling. Highly reccomended for previous versions of the game with improved graphics and all round fun. Great with multiplayer supplying hours of non-stop action.
