Damn those pesky skitters!By CBotch (17 reviews) , 15 Jul 2013
[Highly rated reviewer]The skitters and fish heads are back for more of the same as the drama continues in this post apocalyptic sci-fi series. As with season 1, you have to persevere with the 'Jericho' style world in which the survivors live, but the slow build up becomes justified mid point, as the constant paranoia and whispers amongst the group turns from trust & unity to potential hostility. The cast are pretty solid once again as Noah Wyle & Will Patton lead the 22nd Massachusetts into battles (both military & personal) as the reasons to the invasion become slowly clearer. The supporting cast add some weight as Moon Bloodgood's doctor, & Wyle's sons, keep the human experience going. Colin Cunningham's bad boy 'Pope' leads viewers on many 'is he, isn't he' moments throughout, as he seeks to almost schizophrenically divide the group. Some new twists makes things interesting, though Spielberg's trademark family unity stands out forefront & proud as the earthly glue begins to perish. Overall a reasonably good second series which seemed to improve on the first- now bring on the third!

Just do itBy The_Masked_Critic (1 review) , 04 Dec 2013One of the best Sci-fi shows in years. Nearly every episode feels like a mini film all of its own with great pace and purpose. The 2nd series has lost its way a little but I can't wait for Series 3. Excellent acting from all lead characters. Well worth it if you are remotely into aliens or apocalypse themes.
Deeper and grippingBy Andrewv (1 review) , 17 Nov 2013The whole series has much more depth and gravity than the first series. The narrative is considered and gripping. You always feel the desperation of the 2nd mass and with the that the warmth of the growing relationships adds some fragile security. Various threads from previous great sci fi can be seen ie alien. The additional budget creates fantastic visual effects.

Americans fight big bugs and obviously win...By a customer , 14 Aug 2013More American 'whoop whoop' as the 2nd Mass try their best to fight back against the vastly superior alien invaders. From a Spielberg produced tv show I would expect more of an ongoing plot and a bit more intrigue. However, it simply turns into a pop at government and a political punch at invading armies that rely on technology to win. Watch this if you've already invested time in the first series and are willing to watch on to the following (and hopefully final) series where either humankind will fall or aliens will leave. I'm not sure it will have a satisfying end...
