Forget Spaceballs and Galaxy Quest - this is the ultimate spoof of any Sci-Fi film. Ever! Okay that may be going a bit far but this is by far the funniest Star Wars tribute you will see for a long time.
We begin with a power outage in Quahog, knocking out all the lights, refrigirators and worst of all TV. So what's a Griffen family to do in such dire straights? Well, tell a story of course, and Peter is only too glad to tell his tale of a long time ago 'that's somehow in the future'. The whole of A New Hope is covered in the following 50 minutes, with all of your favourite Star Wars characters played by recognisable faces. The whole Star Wars score is also here, always present in the background with Peter humming along at one point.
Anyone who watches Family Guy will no doubt love this (though be warned, this is in fact an extended episode from season six so it may not be worth buying it on it's own - rent it instead!) and even those unfamiliar with the world of Peter Griffen should be amused enough to get them interested to see the rest of the series. What the phantom menace are you waiting for?
I LOVE Family Guy and Star Wars, but this is well below standard on both counts. I think i laughed outloud about twice, whereas usually i am apopleptic with mirth at any episode of Family Guy.
I can only assume the spoilsports at Lucas Film were too precious to give the writers enough freedom to really rip into Star Wars. Which is a real shame and a massive missed oportunity.
ho hum...
I love Family Guy and have all the series, in fact tis even better than those past their best folk in Springfield.
And I like Star Wars but this, it ticks all the right boxes, there is some clever stuff and clever casting but something just doesn't work.
There are a lot of 'I see what you did there moments' but not the best Star Wars riffs the show has done.
Still prefer Spaceballs.

I have neve watched The Family Guy but we saw this on the shelf in HMV and decided to rent it from here. Bearing in mind we did not know the characters, we are huge star wars fans and loved this! Very funny, just like a cartoon of star wars! My fave bit was the Dirty Dancing montage!! Short but good!

love family guy & this special does fail to deliver, its brillian there some greta gags as always, can't wait till new season & the new special..
only problem i wish it was longer.
This could have been brilliant. But the Joke just aren't funny. I love Family Guy. The series is classic, but this really let me down. 5 other people watched this film with me and between the lot of us I think there where 3 laughs. You start to hate this the longer it goes on because of how disappointing it is. If you a die hard fan you will like it but only because you have no life.
I've been a huge fan of Seth McFarlane and this is no exception! I laughed from start to finish and had watch it over for gags I'd missed! Highly recommend for real Family Guy fans and also for newcomers!
This movie should only be viewed by people who are fans of both Star Wars and Family Guy.
The writers were obviously huge Star Wars fans, as they managed to take all the little details from Star Wars Episode IV....and make fun of all of them.
At the same time they took the regular characters of Family Guy, and managed to put them in the roles of the Star Wars characters brilliantly
Ther result....an extremely funny, clever, well thought out movie.
I recommend this to any fan of Star Wars who has seen (or knows of) Family Guy.
The concept of a Family Guy Star Wars parody with Chris as Luke Skywalker, Stewie as Darth Vader and Peter as Hans Solo was a mouthwatering prospect. Its hard to see how they could have got it wrong but the execution is sadly lacking and the material sub-standard.
i love family guy- its the gr8tist but this was a disaster, the jokes wer not funny and it was just to overpowering and for me it was a waste of rental- however ther were a few moments wer a relativly funny joke was poped in but alltogether a bit of a mess!
-For people who like family guy and think its ok or good- DONT GET IT BECAUSE IT WILL SPOIL YOUR OPINION OF FAMILY GUY (AND GENERALLY ITS HILLARIOUS!)
-For hardcose family guy fans like me- Dont bother beacuse it wastes your £££ (but if your hardcore then your not going 2 listen!)
NOT A FILM! A LONG EPISODE ONLY 3/4 OF AN HOUR LONG!
I am as big fan of Family Guy but this Movie does not come close to the usual Sharp scripts of the TV Show. I think the problem stems from the fact that alot of the humour usually comes from the insane situations that Peter puts himself in, but in this movie that aspect is completely missing. Tip......... the additional episode in the DVD extras is better than the actual Movie.
