my children loved this film. Reed Richards (Ioan Gruffudd) has a brilliant idea, he wants to test in space, involving human DNA and radiation. To do that, he swallows his pride and turns to his old rival, Victor Von Doom (Julian McMahon). Victor agrees, and soon five people are travelling to a space station, hoping to get their experiment set up before a cosmic storm arrives.
Unfortunately, they don't make it, and the five of them are caught in the storm. At first, there don't appear to be any effects. But then they begin to change. First, it's Ben Grimm (Michael Chiklis) who becomes a rock creature. But then Reed discovers he can flex his body into any shape desired. Siblings Sue and Johnny Storm (Jessica Alba and Chris Evans) also find they have powers. Sue can turn invisible and create force fields while Johnny can turn his body into fire and use that to fly.
Johnny is the only one of the four who is excited, about their new found powers. He wants to use them for good, but also exploit them for profit. Ben is the most reluctant, to embrace their new found powers since he's a giant rock. Reed tries to find a way to reverse the process, while all of them attempt to deal with the powers.
Whilst as disturbing are the changes the other find in themselves, they can at least hide the effects beneath normal clothes, or prevent the effects from taken place, for Ben his mutation into 'The Thing' means, that this most gentle of men, is now cast as a horrific misfit, who is hit rather hard when his wife leaves him.
Meanwhile, Dr. Doom ( Julian McMahon) is also undergoing a change. he begins to show some rather alarming symptoms, and when his business starts to crumble around him, and Sue rejects his romantic approaches, it would seem he is only too keen to try out his new abilities, for the purpose of revenge.
But as he wants to use his powers to satisfy his own greed, and take over the world. Now, the Fantastic Four will need to accept their powers in order to stop him.
The special effects were incredible, especially for Johnny Storm also known as the Human Torch and Reed as Mr. Fantastic.
this film is well worth renting out.- Was this review helpful to you?

(541)Hot hot
By gianino (616 reviews) from London , 14 Apr 2012Cool, great fun, great cast, amazing plot & special effects. The best bit is Chris Evans who superfit and very hot; his character is quite funny and I was very pleased to see that he takes his top off few times. Anyway, enough of being shallow :) it's a great movie for all ages- Was this review helpful to you?

Fantastic bore
By Dante3000 (56 reviews) from Liverpool , 08 Jan 2012Whilst not a bad film, it certainly doesn't live up to the F4 legacy and even manages to ignore some of it along the way. Enough is changed to make hardcore fans of the comics spew, and for people just wanting entertainment they will find an unsubtle cliche.
Watch once then forget- Was this review helpful to you?

Great Comic Book Adaptation
By markmaz333 (102 reviews) , 15 Dec 2011Missed it at the cinema and watched parts of it on the TV so pleased I have finally seen the whole thing.
A very good film.
A good script and story but good performances by all and good chemistry between the main characters.Good laughs and chuckles. Better in some ways than the 1st Spiderman movie, but I feel that like Spiderman, the sequels will never be as good. This is mostly because part of the enjoyment of the film is that you the audience are finding out about the special powers of the main characters at the same times they are.
In the sequel,a lot of the mystery and suspense is gone,so somehow more unfulfilling.
SFX and sound effects are first class when watched with a decent screen and sound set up.- Was this review helpful to you?

Good fun.....
By a customer from Norwich , 26 Aug 2010Although my son thought the film took a little while to get going (he is only 9) - when it ended he said 'can we get the next one'. He really enjoyed watching this, and so did the rest of us. Worth a watch.- Was this review helpful to you?
