Is it a Film you're looking for Joseph?By Jowolvo from wolves uk , 23 Jul 2004
[Highly rated reviewer]Watched this ages ago but only recently on dvd. What can I say-good good film. Nicole is believable. Tom is not bad-the accents in my opinon are good. The plot is a typical epic romantic historical film-as dad puts it 'its Titanic if the iceberg hadn't hit'
Give this film a try-its worth it. The scenery in Ireland is well shot and the soundtrack fits the scenes and story in a complimentary way.
No complaints-at all. Good film-if you enjoyed films like Titanic, Ned Kelly and gritty westerns-then give this a try as it combines the best elements of these films.

Excellent filmBy a customer from UK , 28 Oct 2008Brilliant casting between Tom and Nicole.
Brilliant story - I love the mix of posh girl and lower class boy.
All in all a brill film - some bad language but watchable with teens.
Would see again anytime.
Great to see again!By crazybaybe (6 reviews) from Accrington , 02 Aug 2008I watched this many years ago and had ordered it to watch when my hubby was out for the night. He didn't go and we both watched it. I enjoyed the romance and the will they/ won't they be together storyline. He enjoyed the bare knuckel boxing and blood splattered faces - nice. This film was actually quite funny in places and on the whole we both enjoyed it very much.
Not in my top ten, but an easy watching film with romance, comedy and a little violence!
simply greatBy couly (5 reviews) from Bishop Auckland , 04 Mar 2008One of tom's best films a simply great love story.
Brilliant MovieBy Juicypefkos (87 reviews) from Reading , 14 Jan 2008A young man (Cruise) leaves Ireland with his landlord's daughter (Kidman) after some trouble with her father, and they dream of owning land at the big giveaway in Oklahoma ca. 1893. When they get to the new land, they find jobs and begin saving money. The man becomes a local bare hands boxer, and rides in glory until he is beaten, then his employers steal all the couple's money and they must fight off starvation in the winter, and try to keep their dream of owning land alive. Meanwhile, the woman's parents find out where she has gone and have come to America to find her and take her back.
