I went on safari in South Africa recently (near the Botswana border) and have been pining for the bush ever since. This documentary did the job for me: it evoked the utter fascination and quite atavistic awe again, without being slushy or sentimental in the slightest. Yes, there was background music, but it was authentic African offerings which enhanced rather than detracted from the pictures. And what pictures they were! Even if you're not an animal enthusiast, you will love them. It wasn't the usual hunting scenes, just beautiful animals in their natural habitat. The commentary by the bush-men was enriching and humbling and added greatly to the overall inspired concept of the film. It is a lovely experience for anyone in love with the African bush. Go there with this documentary!

I saw 2 good reviews and then whenI watched it I was very disappointed. I think it was made in the 80's . There is not way this was made in 2012. There is a small tribe in Namibia and a bushman tells about his beautiful country and their animals. He doesn't speak English so there is a narrator. You can see just a few animals (lion, elephants, zebras, seals and a few others). It's very slow and made very cheap. Don't get misleading by the cover. Look for other similar documentaries.

  • THE REAL AFRIKA

This was one of the best, most informative nature documentaries I have seen and that is coming from someone who has a copy of virtually every David Attenborough DVD. Much as I love David, his docs are very academic. This is the real story of Africa told by the bushmen. Great extras of tribal dancing. Highly Recommended.
