I watched the first DVD (Live!) a few months ago and hated it. I gave it two stars and said:
'For completists only, the live show adds nothing to the TV sketches, and underlines how much the Fast Show's success was down to deft editing of the sometimes feeble jokes. Forget this,and watch the TV series instead.'
But I've just watched the Farewell DVD, expecting very little, and to my surprise it's actually very close to the quality of the TV shows. Maybe the team have more confidence second time around? - or maybe they just did a better job of writing? - whatever, the Farewell show starts shaky but after about ten minutes it picks up. The BIrkin sketch is hilarious and so is some of the corpsing.
