(113)At bloody LAST!
By MickeyMouse3000 (299 reviews) from Dorset, England , 04 May 2012I'm a big fan of concept/sports cars and action movies, so the whole idea of this franchise is right up my street. Unfortunately I've always felt the films were just average entertainment - until now! Finally they have managed to deliver proper action thrills and great drama that actually makes me feel for the characters. The racing action is exciting tense stuff and at times this movie felt a little Bond-like to me, which is no bad thing in my eyes. I would without question purchase this movie and it was worth going through the previous films (even number 3) to get to this roaring gem. Great stuff! Please let number 5 be more of this.- Was this review helpful to you?

Low Brow & Proud
By JayLow (122 reviews) , 15 Jan 2012Theres an admirable honesty to Fast & Furious it really doesnt pretend to be something it isnt. It doesnt pretend that its plot isnt predictable, or that its dialogue isnt clichéd, or that its characters arent zero dimensional, or that anyone in the film has any acting ability whatsoever. No, it just locks and loads the cars and the girls and gets on with the racing. Its knows what its audience wants and provides it. Its low brow and its it proud. And who can argue with that.
That said, if your mind does somehow inadvertently engage itself whilst watching the car smashing fun you may wish to ponder this conundrum: how in the world did plump, balding, permanently-sufferingfrom-tonsillitis, poor-mans-grant-mitchell Vin Diesel ever become a star? A conundrum for the greatest brains unlike this film.- Was this review helpful to you?

Burning rubber & Mexican drug-lords
By RussDorset (3 reviews) , 07 Jan 2012Quite amusing with lots of revving up and tyre smoke - the bad guys are a little cliched and the plot a classic drug smuggling scenario but didn't expect anthing too cerebral anyway. Vin D. was as sharp as usual but prefer him as the no fear recruited spy in XXX. There are scenes with chases through long cross-border tunnels which were good. Great to watch on a Sat night with popcorn.- Was this review helpful to you?

Switch off your brain and enjoy!
By S7005H (3 reviews) from Halifax , 28 Nov 2011Having seen the first, second and fifth instalments of the Fast & Furious series i thought i should really watch this, so I added it to the rental list.
Don't be looking for any Oscar winning performances here as your certainly not going to get them, the acting in parts is shaky but if your a fan of the series you didn't come for the acting. The stars of the show are definitely the cars and the action sequences.
The opening of the movie is a great action sequence as long as you manage to suppress even a base knowledge of physics.
The plot is action/revenge movie standard fare and is pretty thin on the ground for any depth but less to think about that way!
If you like cars and action and don't really want to have to think for just under 2 hours then rent this you can't go far wrong.
I would much sooner watch the 5th movie over this one as that is action from beginning to end. In order of best tow worst -
1. Fast Five
2. The Fast & The Furious
3. Fast & Furious
4. 2 Fast 2 Furious
5. Tokyo Drift (not personally viewed but is generally rated as the worst of the bunch).- Was this review helpful to you?
