(4)Cary Grant at its best
By denis007 (134 reviews) , 09 May 2012Once again, Grant did it! This was a thoroughly enjoyable experience watching this movie. Grant, Caron and Howard pulled it off again by turning this movie into an awesome parody of the war, love, and relationship between the characters. The actors are a perfect match for each other taking place against the backdrop of the war. The children were witty in their acting but also in the way they presented their dialog. They were a fantastic match to the 'adults' actors. Nowadays, it seems that the true spirit of comedy has disappeared and not much could be compared to what was made long time ago. So unfortunate! This is probably why I enjoy watching these old movies over and over again!- Was this review helpful to you?

an old film revisited
By Fas1 (10 reviews) from Faversham , 21 Sep 2009The film has a charm about it. There is chemistry between Caron and Grant. Grant is past his heyday but there is still humour especially when he deals with the children,
The plot may be implausible but it's feel good film for a rainy afternoon.- Was this review helpful to you?

This is an unusual film and very funny
By jennifer claire from Ireland , 02 Jun 2007The whole plot is a bit of a stretch, but: Its WWII, its the South Pacific and grant lives on a boat Trevor Howard impounds in order to make Grant co-operate with the war effort, spotting planes for the Allies. Leslie Caron is in charge of assorted public school girls and they all end up on the one island. The only quibble here is that Grant is waaaay too old, or Caron is waaay too young. He looks like he could be her grandfather, which spoils the romantic element a bit.- Was this review helpful to you?
