This set compiles six side-splitting episodes from the legendary first season of FATHER TED, featuring the comedic exploits of three Irish priests and their hellion housekeeper, all exiled to the Parochial House on Craggy Island for their incompetence in the line of duty.
Episodes comprise:
Good Luck Father Ted: Ted gets the chance to appear on the documentary series 'Faith of our Fathers'. His shot at stardom is frustrated by Father Dougal and Father Jack and the arrival of Funland - the World's worst funfair.
Entertaining Father Stone: For 6 years Father Stone has been coming to Craggy Island, which is at least 7 years too many for Ted, Dougal and Jack. Ted tries everything to get him to go - but when Father Stone finds himself on the receiving end of a bolt of lightning - he becomes equally desperate to get him back.
The Passion of St. Tibulus: The controversial movie 'The Passion of St. Tibulus' has been banned by the Pope but through some loophole, is being shown on Craggy Island. Bishop Brennan asks Father Ted and Dougal to get the film withdrawn.
Competition Time: The 'All Priests Look-a-like Competition' has come around again and Ted is determined that this year he will defeat his fellow priests from Rugged Island. Out goes Mother Theresa; this year he's going as Elvis Presley. The only trouble is that Jack and Dougal decide to go as Elvis as well...
And God Created Woman: Novelist Polly Clarke, author of the steamy 'Bejewelled with Kisses', comes to stay on the island and Ted mistakenly believes she is attracted to him. Will it be bright lights, glamour and excitement and a new life for Ted? Or does Polly have other plans?
Grant Unto Him Eternal Rest: Father Jack consumes more floor polish than is good for him but he leaves Ted and Dougal half a million pounds. But will he stay dead long enough for them to get it?

Having recently watched Series 3 of Father Ted and thoroughly enjoying it I thought I'd go right back to the start and Series 1 of this great comedy...I wasn't dissapointed. Although some of the characters are played slightly different then the later series, for example Father Dougal is definitely funnier as the series progress and Father Jack actually strings together sentances in this first series rather than just words...I personally prefer the later seasons when the characters are more developed etc and the actors obviously have a gret rapore with each other by then.
But still for a first series of a comedy this is great, you can get into it straight away and some of the episodes on here are just genius, so I highly reccommend it!
Aww feck I've gone on too long!! Drink!!
Love it absolutely love it! Great humour given by all the fathers - especially father Hackett!
A great laugh with dumb comedy - but somehow never cheesy!
What happened between Father Flynn (Philip Seymour Hoffman) and Donald Miller (Joseph Foster) in the rectory? Neither one is saying, but Sister James (Amy Adams) is concerned the boy came back to class flushed, with alcohol on his breath. Sister James is young and naïve, but not that naïve. She hesitantly takes her suspicion to Sister Aloysius (Meryl Streep), the principal at St Mary’s. Sister Aloysius is neither young nor naïve, and unlike Sister James, she has taken a staunch dislike... Read more
