Really, really dull

If you can force yourself to watch this right through to the end, you deserve a prize. Tom Berenger is dull as the ex-boxer turned manager of new york strippers. Does it matter that he was a boxer? No not really. The flashbacks to the fight that caused him to quit add nothing. Melanie Griffith and Rae Dawn Chong are lacklustre strippers who seem incredibly bored by the whole thing, even when they're dancing on stage. And why didn't they just write Billy Dee Williams' character out altogether and spend the money they saved on better scriptwriters? It would have made no material difference to the story, since his role is basically to turn up from time to time and remind us how 'bad' Tom Berenger is. Yes, he is 'scum'. We need to be told because otherwise you might start to think he's just a regular guy trying to make a living. Round the whole thing off with a serial killer whose motivations are never discovered, and who only has one line of dialogue in the entire thing. Since the whole plot centres around the strippers being murdered, there has to be a killer, right? But why waste time actually making him a real character? Avoid this turkey like the plague.
