Nick Hornby at his ...
By Gleebody#1 from CLEVEDON , 26 May 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
Nick Hornby at his best in this typically British understated movie. It's about relationships and football - but not so much footie that I (as a non-football person) got fed up with it. I'm sure there were bits that I missed by not knowing a lot about football and footballers, but there was still enough to enjoy for me to recommend this.- Was this review helpful to you?

(37)I'm making a strong pitch for this film
By Bobsview (549 reviews) from Gloucestershire , 09 Mar 2013I adore this film. It is absolutely one of my favourite films ever. It just has it all. Just brilliant. Make you laugh and cry all the way through. Maybe it is because I am a lifelong football supporter myslef and can identify with the emotions so much but it is a great backdrop for a very convincing RomCom too. I cannot recommend it highly enough.- Was this review helpful to you?

Charming, funny and down-to-earth.
By joesufc (1 review) , 06 Jan 2013Lovely, feel-good and down-to-earth British film that every proper football fan can relate to (and anyone who's in a relationship with one). Good soundtrack, plenty of laughs and a happy ending. It does skim over the book but that's inevitable in a 90-minute film. My only criticism would be that it doesn't really explore the relationship between Paul and Sarah and why they get together in the first place.- Was this review helpful to you?

The Problem With Life Is That It Keeps Interferring With The Football...
By Baz (104 reviews) from London , 04 Nov 2012The BLU RAY picture quality on 'Fever Pitch' is surprisingly good - even beautiful in places - fans walking away from the Highbury grounds - Colin Firth sat in a car waiting for his girl.
The football obsession stuff might test the patience of too many women - but 'Fever Pitch' is that rare beast - a nice film - a small movie with a big heart - and the actors and script to do it justice.
Mark Strong and Ruth Gemmell are particularly good.
A very good transfer to BLU RAY and full screen aspect too.
Recommended.- Was this review helpful to you?

A film for a football lover or if have to put up with one.
By SidandLizzie (7 reviews) , 23 Apr 2012Colin firth is as good as ever in this and captures the passion that a lot of people have for football very well. The story of a bloke realising that he is going to have to grow up at some point will touch a cord with a lot of people. It is very much a film of the time and it was funny seeing the fashions and values of this era and how things have changed since then.- Was this review helpful to you?

Not for LFC supporters!
By BlueWren (5 reviews) , 16 Dec 2011Enjoyed MOST of this film, gentle humour - and a very young Colin Firth! - but just hoped the result of the final match would be different this time! ... an LFC supporter!- Was this review helpful to you?
