This is a woderful opera, with many brilliant moments. It's a pity Beethoven used so much talking, especially in the first half, it tends to distract from the experience. I wasn't too sure about this modern production. There were bits that were very good but somehow the poignancy of the prisoners chorus when they first come into the sun was rather diminshed since they were all already there. It didn't grab me as much as it usually does. I thought the chorus were much better in the finale. The whole was very enjoyable.
