I'm also an average man who, like the majority of his male friends and colleagues, aren't into crying at films (although a few who have seen it now no longer deny it!). This film turns me into a blubbering mess every time. I'm not a baseball fan, but then this film isn't really about baseball. It's about people and the things we regret in our past. It's definitely a 'man film' (my wife doesn't get it either) but not in the usual way. It's not sad and depressing. There are some very funny parts, especially involving James Earl Jones, but it just seems to touch something inside men that no other film I've seen can. If you think it's not manly to cry in front of people then watch it on your own, but you must watch it.

i'm 45 years of age,married with two daughters 9 & 12, i consider myself as an average joe, good job, level headed, but every time i watch this film i turn into a blubbering jelly, & my wife just doesn't get it!

It's a man thing....this is a mans film. After i have watched this film i just want to

pick up the phone, ring my dad & tell him how much i love him (but i never do of course)

This film is all about being given a second chance to tell someone how you feel about them & putting things right.

Everything about this film is perfect, the understated acting, the locations, the final 15 minutes, the soundtrack... oh the soundtrack. The musical score for this film is

magical & worthy of Aaron Copland if he were still alive, & still my wife doesn't

get it. She'll cry buckets if a somebody in Emerdale gets run over, but just gives me that funny look of incredulity whilst i wipe away the tears when watching this.

I have a few likeminded male friends, & they too say that their wives don't get it either. Ah well.

I urge anyone with a heart to watch this film, definately in my top 5 of all time.
