  • An impressive spectable but lacking in that little something extra

I don't think you can say this is a bad film. It has an interesting premise, the outline of interesting characters, a superb voice cast and visual effects which are astounding. However, for me it suffers from two key flaws. One, a weak script that progresses the plot but doesn't round out its characters enough - a key issue in a film where all the characters are animated, and thus lacking the subtlety of expression which real actors can use to convey so much. The other problem, at least for me, was the irritating 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' hippy rubbish they kept spouting. All this stuff about the spirits of the Earth, returning to Gaia and enriching life experiences. Yeach - it certainly makes my stomach want to return my lunch, enriched or otherwise. It also drags for short periods (normally while nattering away about the above rubbish) and has a few loopy plot holes, but I quite enjoyed it really.

  • Good Stuff

Very entertaining film. It had a really interesting premise and followed through on it nicely.

The CGI was top notch and felt, at times, that I was watching live action rather than a computer generated film.

  • Y U No Look Like Your Character Steve Buscemi?

This CGI movie has it all...a star studded cast, an interesting premise, absolutely spectacular graphics and plenty of explosions but, like a supermodel girlfriend, is just lacking a little something I can't quite put my finger on...there is something missing that makes this movie great (and for all intents and purposes, it should be...), maybe the plot doesn't develop as well as it should, maybe it's because it says it's based on the video games but actually has no link whatsoever (the video games' stories were fantastic by the way) or maybe it's because Buscemi CGI character looks nothing like him (that for some odd reason, really freaks me out, don't ask why...)...anyway, it's definitely watachable but afterwards you can't help feeling slightly disappointed/short-changed...enjoy the pretty graphics...

I was expecting a lot more from this film, very slow and, well, boring. I'll find something positive....it looks good, but, that's about it. Don't bother with it!

This film is absolutely beautiful. Amazingly crafted through CGI that is so well done, the storyline & characters so rich & rounded, it isn't long before you're no longer aware they are computer constructs and are swept away by the tale.

The depth of the story & its projection & complexity, and the emotions & interactions between characters are astonishing

I was initially put off by the 'cartoon' aspect but can assure you this is no cartoon but a must see gem

heartily recommend this film to all ages & make sure you have a box of tissues handy as you will need them!

It was this exact kind of movie that inspired thousands of brilliant Artists, hundreds of studios and millions of dedicated fans the world over to keep pushing back immense technical boundaries so that witless fools could one day look back and mock their antiquity.
