Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children Details

Wow!

This film is a must for any fans of anime or the original Final Fantasy VII game.

With probably the most impressive computer animation ever seen, this film puts any of the recent attempts by animation giants Pixar to shame.

The plot will be confusing to anyone who has never played the game before but there is a handy extra included on the DVD which takes you on a journey through the significant events in the game (albeit a very short and simplified journey) but if you're a fan of quality animation this shouldn't put you off too much.

Finally do not confuse this film with the awful Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within as despite being produced by the same company (Square) and sharing almost equally impressive animation its plot is so awful you will not want to watch it to the end.

Gamers Only

I have read the comments of those who rated this poorly and have to agree to some extent that this could have been a much better film. If you are a long term fan of the Final Fantasy games then you will already be familiar with the style of the universe it is set in and the types of storylines employed. This will lend itself to making this a film worthy of the 3 stars I have given it. If you are not familiar with the games then you will probably not have much of a clue as to what is going on and will be very disappointed.
