One of the best introductions to RPGs for anyone
By Ria Llewellyn from Swansea, Wales , 27 Nov 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
The first RPG I ever played was Final Fantasy VII, and after that I was hooked. But with X, the gameplay and graphics are seriously improved from earlier versions, which makes this one of the best introductions to the genre anyone could ask for. The beauty of it is, unlike some RPG's out there, you simply don't HAVE to go out and find every extra (and yet doing so would take you a good amount of time!) to complete the game. It's challenging but not enough to smash your head against a wall, and it's sheer beauty (even in comparison to some of the next gen games, and of course FFXII) will keep you playing for hours.
I highly recommend this game to anyone and everyone - come on - rent it - NOW!- Was this review helpful to you?

(15)Too many Cutscenes
By IITiffII (3 reviews) , 20 May 2012This game does not deserve a 5 star rating...
So to start with this is a mutual review - But what i have to warn you all about is the insane amount of cutscenes! For the first part of the game, i think you play maybe half of the time. It does improve however, BUT there is no way to skip any of the cutscenes which can be quite frustrating.
This is the last true final fantasy however, I love the sphere grid, the freedom to go running around and the battle system.
This game takes a while to get into about 10 hours I think...
But overall it is a decent game, but nothing compared to the earlier ones.- Was this review helpful to you?

The last true Final Fantasy
By Unforfilling (8 reviews) , 23 Sep 2011I remember when this game first came out, countless hours of playing with sleepless nights. 3 start overs till eventually being so powerful, killing the final boss in just a few shots. The story can be a little confusing at time and theres not a lot of backstory concerning the characters like other FF's but that doesn't take it away from the emotion this game can make you feel. The story is good, only to be made better by the music, challenging but still fun that can and will have your playing it for 100+ hours.- Was this review helpful to you?

A review for those who've played earlier FF games
By a customer from London , 24 Feb 2009I've noticed on other sites that poor reviews of FF games tend to get discredited by die hard fans of the series. So... bearing in mind that I've played Final Fantasy VII 3 times in full over the years and have played every game with the exception of 11, I wouldn't even consider playing this one again. The idea just bores me.
Yes the graphics are great, but it feels like you run for a while, fight a monster, watch a video sequence, take 2 steps, watch another video sequence....
I did finish it mind you so it's not all bad. The battle system is more complicated and interesting than previous games and some of the puzzles to get through an area take some real concentration. I simply feel that since the Final Fantasy series has migrated to the PS2 and other platforms, the characters, music and side quests have all taken a knock. Maybe I just liked the kind of cutsey feel to the previous games and to some extent the simplicity. If Square Enix could bring that back and combine it with the graphics of the PS2 releases and open battle system of FF12 then I think they'd be onto a winner.
It was forgettable and disappointing for me. 2nd to digging out your old PS1 FF games, I would recommend giving this a miss and going for FF12 instead. There's a lot of video seqences in that as well, but a lot more areas to explore.- Was this review helpful to you?
