Great juxtapositions of humour and tragedy in this fine family film, which appealed equally to Granny, parents and teenage son. Keep a box of tissues handy and prepare for a delightful flight of imagination, both Barrie's and the story-line.
Johnny Depp is one of our favourite actors for his ability to take on such differing roles and carry them off. Even the authenticity of his accent passed muster in our Scottish household! Superb acting all round with young Peter providing a high benchmark for the lead roles. Dustin Hoffman gave a tremendously understated performance as Barrie's long-suffering patron, and Julie Christie was perfect as the austere grandmother of those times.
