Firefox is Clint Eastwood's less favoured cold war thriller based on Craig Thomas' novel (1977) of same name. The story is about a mission given to Mitchell Grant, a Vietnam veteran pilot with post traumatic stress disorder, to steal an advanced stealth fighter MiG-31 Firefox from the Soviet Military hanger where it is developed. Firefox has the ablitiy to attain speeds of Mach five or more and its weapons are controlled by the thought impulses of the pilot ( all the piolet has to do is think in Russian ) giving them accuracy and instant control over the weapon system. This novel which the film is based on was probably based on the true story of Mossad, the Israeli secret service persuaded an Iraqui pilot to defect to Israel with his advanced MiG-21 fighter and suceeded. The film is an average thirller with some tiny lapses of reason, but if you like a nice cold war thriller, with Clint Eastwood on the lead...try this one.
