This film was an average hollywood movie with a major filmstar, who in my mind is a bit like an American version of Michael Caine, as in, he doesn't get the films he deserves to be in. All in all this is a slow, but tense thriller, that can keep the average film watcher, like me, on the edge of his seat.
Perhaps it is the over-exposure of the trailers being prompted over and over giving away far too much of the plot, the movie loses much of the tension and suspense. The acting and over-all quality of the film are probably a little above average but not much. I still think the major flaw in this movie is the story-line, it simply fails to stimulate too much reaction from the viewer. Nothing spectacular here, if you have seen the trailer once or twice, you'd be better off renting another title, since you really won't get too much more out of watching the complete film. If you would really like to see this film, please refrain youself from seeing the trailer, that way, you might still enjoy it. Oh, by the way, the film has very little to do with the title, if I recall correctly, no firewalls are mentioned in the film.
Nothing about this movie suggested we were in for a standard setting and original blockbuster, the DVD box description alone ensures your expectations are realistic. This movie is very much your run of the mill kidnap/ransom style action movie that was so popular in the late 90s but in our opinion this is a good one! Harrison Ford plays the troubled father of two, a victim of identity theft whose family are kidnapped in exchange for millions of dollars as ransom by a devious and ruthless gangster played by Paul Bettany. The plot is not at all original as stated above and contains only a few variants from other films in this genre yet the action is undeniably entertaining. Ford is convincing as the desperate father whilst Bettany makes for a reasonably effective bad guy and all in all we were both gripped throughout. This movie actually made a nice change from the popular styles of the last couple of years. If you enjoyed movies like Ransom with Mel Gibson or more recently Bruce Williss Hostage then its a fair assumption that you will enjoy this. Nothing new but a well made and entertaining Sunday night movie. 4 Stars.
There isn't a Harrison Ford movie I don't like! The aging Harrison still delivers, he certainly doesn't get involved in projects that don't do him justice! So to get your daily dose of Harrison Ford solid good action watch this. Good stuff!
Harrison ford is on top form...a brillant film

Yes, it's true that Harrison Ford is getting a little past it (to say the least) to act the super hero but after having watched a string of tedious fare this film is a refreshing change. It's got a good plot, you can hear what everyone says, the film moves at a reasonable pace and there is a build up of suspense. The baddie, Paul Bettany, does his part well. Unfortunately the climatic ending streches our belief somewhat BUT it's a gool old actional thriller that the kids can watch and is a dammed sight better than a lot of current/recent offerings out there.
This is a good thriller in which Harrison Ford delivers another great performance, as he always does. Well worth a watch!!
I found this one of the best movies I've seen for some time. I had thought that the time when they used to make great movies was over. But I was wrong, This is the way that good movies should be made. Harrison Ford as always is great in this movie as the family man who fights back in order to save his family from a bunch of nasty bank robbers, I was on the edge of my seat-chair all the way through. Please holywood make more great films like this.
keeps you in the seat, very tense moments at times, worth a watch.
A very predictable and not too enthralling thriller, that has the look and feel of a made for TV film. Involves an IT manager in a bank that is compromised by having his family hostage into stealing money electronically. but it's never that easy as a takover is in progress that has changed all the banks systems. Will they get their loot in time, will his family survive, will he survive... It is reasonable enough if you want 1hr 45 of distraction, but definately has a been there before feel I'm afraid.
an average thriller. i would have been gutted to have paid to see this at the cinema, however for a few quid you dont feel so bad. a wee bit of a slow burner. great to see chloe from 24 appear in this looking exactly like she usually does, is this girl capable of smiling at all. its also nice to see that american boys cannot have a proper haircut,i always laugh & reflect on my own school photos when all kids had the 'crash helmet' haircut. oh how we laughed!!
