An entertaining trip through flower power nostalgia, with Dennis Hopper having a ball sending up his old screen persona. He is a 1960s activist, on the run for two decades, who is finally nabbed by the FBI but then proceeds to run rings around his fresh-faced captor, Kiefer Sutherland. The stars spark off each other nicely and there are also some neat supporting turns from Richard Masur, Carol Kane and Michael McKean as frustrated middle-aged hippies. The script lacks any real satirical bite, but it is nice to see Hopper in what is now one of his rare non-psycho roles and director Franco Amurri keeps the action zipping along.
Hopper gives a strong performance as a '60s radical who came near to murdering Vice-President Spiro Agnew back in 1969.... read more on Time Out
I wasn't expecting too much when i watched this film but was pleasantly suprised.Hopper is great as the wacky hippy and straight laced Keifer Sutherland is good as his FBI foil.Their chemistry is the hub of the film as their odyssey unfolds.
The film dips a little in places like most films do but there's enough momentum to carry it over the finishing line.
All in all a pleasant romp.
Getting a bit old maybe-the film not me! but worth watching. Two great actors who compliment each other well in this film. Would happily watch it again.
I love this film and have seen it a number of times. There's great chemistry between the two leads, a fantastic 60's soundtrack, and loads of counterculture referenced joking around, man.

This movie was not as good as I remembered it all those years ago.

Not bad in it's day, never the same when you watch them again
Talk about great casting: Hopper as a former radical hippy being escorted by stiff FBI agent Sutherland to stand trial for crimes he committed in the 60s. And Hopper starts off the film clearly having a ball, playing pretty well off Sutherland. But then the guys go on the lam and the film falls apart, pausing for an odd mix of sentimental and violent moments.
If you like Easy Rider and other Dennis Hopper films it's must see, victory for scribblers... or not?
I have seen this movie several times now, and it's definitely one of those worth watching more than once. Dennis Hopper and Kiefer Sutherland play great parts in this quirky story.
i have seen this film before but was still worth watching
Such a classic funny film!!!
